Cambodian Children’s Trust | Response to COVID-19
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Texel Foundation allocated a percentage of this year’s donations to 9 emergency grants, the fifth of which is detailed below:
Cambodian Children’s Trust serve a large population of Cambodian urban poor who have little or no access to hygiene or sanitation facilities and Covid-19 is having a devastating effect on this already vulnerable population.
CCT have experienced an increased demand for support, especially from families requiring basic needs such as food, rental assistance and hygiene supplies. Many families are out of work due to shut-down across the country.
During lockdown, children could collect both breakfast and lunch from CCT centres, which they took to eat at home. All children were provided with instructions on how to prevent the spread of COVID19\, including taking home hygiene packs for their whole family. Youth centre educators also provided home-schooling packs to ensure education continued. In situations where a child or family is experiencing symptoms, they are offering food drops to homes so the family can remain quarantined.
The below infographic gives an insight into the impact CCT’s support is having on local communities and the huge demand for their services.
